Draft sections or paragraphs, use writing skills , edit, improve, publish, check against WAGOLL

Draft: teacher model how to draft a section or paragraph using collected ideas from previous week, children draft a paragraph or section using worked examples on whiteboards and discuss how to link sentences together using cohesive devices, children independently draft own section or paragraphs using their collected sentences.

Edit and improve: teacher feedback explains to children where improvements may be needed, yellow box marking identifies parts which need improving or editing, peer feedback in UKS2 explains where editing skills are needed, teacher models how to edit work created during draft session, children independently edit work.

Publish: once children have a final piece of written work, they publish their writing using cursive handwriting, taking care with their presentation, work is published onto decorated pieces of a paper, one copy is placed into children’s books another is added to their collection of published writing.

WAGOLL: work should always be checked against the WAGOLL and checklist to ensure children have met the criteria.
